Lexa Doig |
Biography Birth Name Alexandra L. Doig Date of birth (location) 8 June 1973 Toronto, Ontario, Canada -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lexa Doig, one of the flashiest women in the sci-fi world, was born into her role as an actress: at the young age of six, she wrote and directed her first play, Strawberry Shortcake, while she generously gave the lead role away to a friend. Today, Lexa Doig has regained her rightful position in the limelight: with many outstanding roles and with a daughter born in 2004, this actress is a woman with her hands full. But Lexa Doig can handle a galaxy’s worth of tasks all at once: as fans of Andromeda will agree, the young woman is superb at multi-tasking. Born in Toronto to a Filipino mother and a Scottish/Irish father, Lexa Doig is an exotic-looking diamond-in-the-rough. Inspired in part by her parents’ love for sci-fi (Star Trek was the TV picture of choice during her childhood) and by their interest in feature films, Lexa Doig quickly leapt into sci-fi stardom. At only 5,6” she is a surprising bundle of energy. In 1991, Lexa Doig landed her first television career as the host of “Video and Arcade Top 10,” a Canadian game show in which children competed to be video game champions. Her first professional acting role came in 1994 on TekWar, a made-for-television series based on the exhilarating works of William Shatner. In film, Lexa Doig stole the screen as the lead heroine in the pic “Jason X,” a 2001 installment of the infamous Friday the 13th series. Lexa Doig played Dr. Rowan, the doctor who initiated the research project on Jason. Andromeda and Stargate SG-1 are two other television shows which boast Lexa Doig as their own. In Andromeda, Lexa Doig played the integral role of Rommie and met her future husband, actor Michael Shanks. In Stargate SG-1, the ninth season, Lexa Doig plays Dr. Carolyn Lam, Stargate Command’s chief medical officer, and also has a recurring role on the new Sci-Fi hit show "The 4400". A loyal fan of Dungeons and Dragons, South Park, and Pinky and the Brain Lexa Doig is the girl-next-door with flair. Lexa Doig currently resides in Vancouver with Michael Shanks, her daughter and her two cats. She doesn’t have much spare time, but in the precious moments that she has, she enjoys roller blading, reading and sleeping. |
